Summer Time, and the Living is Easy

Summer at Upthorpe Lodges.Enjoy Strawberries and Champagne at Upthorpe Lodges

Summer breaks in the UK are now more popular than ever, and whilst we have lots of bookings already, we still have some good availability from mid-June onwards. We also have some nights in May if you’re quick to book! Our location is in East Anglia, one of the sunniest regions in the UK, especially June onwards. Each of our four lodges sits in its own private garden, with a wide sun-deck, hot tub, and sun-loungers, so there’s plenty of opportunity to soak up the sun. And for the times when you just might be seeking some shade, there are parasols and a Venetian gazebo over the hot tub.

Maple Lodge

Maple Lodge sits in a tropical looking garden giving the feeling of summer throughout the year. The garden blossoms with reds, yellows and orange blooms from start to finish. Inside the lodge there’s a cooling feel, with the clean green and white colour scheme contrasting with the black worktops and appliances.

Birch Lodge

Birch Lodge has a luscious summer garden with two Birch trees providing shade for the leafy undergrowth. Expect to see selected white and purple flowers and plants, providing interest throughout summer and into autumn. Ferns unfold and autumn Cyclamen emerge as summer progresses. Lay back on the comfy sun-loungers and listen to the birdsong heading into dusk.

Cedar Lodge

Cedar Lodge has a grown-up feel to its interior with a touch of mid-century retro due to the teak sideboard and coffee tables. A cheerful and subtle orange and cream colouring indoors looks out onto a mature garden with shaped planting and circular lawns, looking verdant throughout the summer.

Oak Lodge

For a contemporary garden look no further than Oak Lodge. The stylish lilac-painted feature walls provide a calm background to the mini wild flower meadow and woodland style garden. Natural shade is provided by the impressive Turkish Oak tree, but there’s always a sunny spot for the sun loungers!

Staycation This Year? Suffolk Ticks the Boxes

Staycation destination Suffolk

Understandably, Staycation is the word for many travellers in 2021. If you’re looking for plenty to see and do – choose Suffolk! Firstly, it’s one of the driest and sunniest counties in the UK. Yet it has miles of unspoilt coastline, gentle green countryside and a wealth of wild places to explore. It’s also a convenient drive from most of London, and the East Midlands.

Discover Suffolk’s Past

We’re not far from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, with a well-preserved town centre and a magnificent cathedral. While you’re here you may want to learn a bit about the area. How about the town’s brewing history on a Greene King Brewery tour, with a sup or two? Or enjoy a recital in the calm Cathedral environment perhaps? You can go back further in time at the Moyses Hall Museum which includes Stone Age artefacts from this very ‘flinty’ area.

Wildlife Watchers in for a Treat

Suffolk is home to a wide variety of the UK’s wildlife, nowhere more than at one of our many wildlife reserves. The National Trust, the RSPB and Suffolk Wildlife Trust all have a strong presence. Minsmere,  by the coast, is arguably the best not just in Suffolk but in Great Britain. Nearer to us we have Lackford Lakes, Redgrave and Lopham Fen, and Knettishall Heath. They are great places for just a walk, or for spending a few hours absorbing the sights and sounds. We have guides and binoculars available for guests to use.

Relax and Re-charge on a Staycation in Suffolk

While Suffolk is great to explore, there’s nothing wrong in just relaxing and enjoying fresh air in a colourful garden with birdsong in the air. Our four lodges are each within their own secluded and gated gardens, and each one has a luxury Beachcomber Hot Tub and comfy sun beds.

Whether it’s culture or comforts you’re seeking, Upthorpe Lodges will tick your staycation boxes. Follow the link below to discover why Suffolk should be your Staycation destination this year

Our four lodges are for couples only, with a minimum stay of 3 nights
